Membership Information

Personal Information Collected from Members

To become a member of LocalHealth.info, you provide your full name and a legitimate email address. These are only visible to site managers, and are not exposed to the public or other members. We do not share member information with any outside entities.

Optional Information

You also may be asked other information about your browsing preferences or background as a health information user, which you may provide at your option. By default this information is visible only to site managers, and will only be made visible to the public or to other site members if you so decide.

Use of Your Email Address

By default, we do not use members' email addresses to communicate routine or general announcements.  Any opportunities to sign up for email notifications, if offered, must be actively selected by members and may be de-selected at any time.

Your email address will be used to supply a new temporary password if your password is lost.  Site managers may also use your email address to communicate with you about matters that are specific to your contents or membership, or to notify you of any major changes in the site's functions or policies that may affect your membership.

Your Username

At the time of registration, you create a username. Your username is associated with any items or comments you create, and is visible to the public when your items are published. It is completely up to you whether to choose a user name that personally identifies you.

Your Homepage

Your membership also includes a homepage that you may edit and make public (by submitting for review by managers). If you choose to make your home page public, anonymous users will be able to view it by clicking on your username where it appears with your other published items. Therefore, your choice to personally identify yourself to the public also depends on the content you create in your homepage, and if it is published.

Public Anonymity for Members

If you prefer to publish items on LocalHealth.info without indentifying yourself to the public, you can do so by choosing not to incorporate any personally identifying information into your username or homepage.

Members are NOT anonymous to site managers. Please remember that LocalHealth.info managers can see all items created by users, even in the private state.

Records of Members' Activities

Changes in contents' review state (such as an item being submitted, accepted, returned, etc.) are recorded in the item's review history, along with the time of the change, the username of the person making the change, and any review comments.

The review history is visible to owners and reviewers of the item, in addition to site managers.

In addition, all changes to all items are recorded in the site's publishing database, maintained by the site administrator.

Third Parties

LocalHealth.info does not rent, sell or give member data to outside entities.

Exceptions to This Policy

The only conditions under which we may surrender any member data to a third party is under subpoena by a court of law, or in cooperation with a criminal investigation.
